- Genesis 39:12
Joseph's refusal of Potiphar's wife shows all of us, men and women alike, how to fight temptation.
- Live Coram Deo, that is, live your life in the presence of God, under the authority of God, for the glory of God.
- Avoid the occasions of sin. Joseph not only avoided lying in bed with her, but he also refused to be in the same room with her (vs. 10).
- When fighting sin, start on the offensive, not defensive. Hit first and hit hard; don't bring a knife to a gunfight, bring a gun. Fight the weapons of this world with the Word of God.
- Be a person of conviction. Joseph did not run because he was afraid, he ran because he was holy. Because he feared God and loved his fellow man.
You want to fight temptation; do you want to kill sin?
Live as if God is watching (because He is).
Fight sin head-on, and remember, the best offense is often absence.
