For each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.

- Luke 6:44

Have you ever seen a plant that is barely holding onto life?

If so, you might assume that the plant or tree was finished bearing fruit. But that is not always so.

Even though trees and plants go through seasons bearing no fruit, they can be pruned, and once again produce fruit.

As believers, we are to be deeply rooted in God’s Word, like a tree is deeply rooted in rich soil. Then, we can bear the fruit of the spirit, which Galatians 5:22-23 tells us is “... love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

When seasons of winter come, we can lean on the One who holds our summer and spring.

As we trust in the Son to shine His truth in our lives, we don’t have to live without hope.

Today, as you look to the eternal source of joy and light, what season do you find yourself in? Are you resting in the crisp coolness of fall, or enjoying the beauty of summer’s warmth and joy? Or are you springing to life after a long, dreary winter? No matter what season you find yourself in, ask God to give you the strength to grow in His truths so you may bear rich fruit in your life.

With Love,
Paper Sunday
