O Lord, listen to my cry; give me the discerning mind you promised.
- Psalm 119:169
Remember the first day of school?
Maybe you had freshly sharpened pencils, a new backpack, lunchbox, or school shoes.
There was excitement as you headed into the classroom, meeting new students, reconnecting with old friends, and opening up your school supplies for each class.
But, on the other hand, maybe you felt fearful that you would have lunch alone or wouldn’t be able to find your classroom on time.
Or, do you remember your first day on the job? Were you nervous? Did you worry that you wouldn’t be up for the task?
As you look back on those days, do you remember the waves of excitement coupled with the fear of the unknown?
Right now, whatever you are going through, God knows. He was there with you in the past. He is with you in the present, and He will be with you in the future.
Remember how the things that worried you then are but a memory now?
Maybe, even some of the things that troubled you when you were younger seem silly now.
But as you look at the past and how God provided for you can trust Him now.
As you look back on your childhood self or your children now, don’t you want the best for them? Isn’t it easy to imagine the best for your younger self?
So likewise, we are God’s children, and He desires that we trust Him and believe in Him to meet our needs. As our heavenly Father, He knows what we need when we need it.
Whether it is a friend to sit by during lunch or guidance for a business proposal, He can is able to meet us where we are.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for being with me always. Thank you for knowing me and what I need at every age.
