But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
- Ephesians 4:20-24 [NKJV]
Living close and right with God is all about renewal and change.
The renewing of your mind is a life-long pursuit.
Every day we spend walking with the Lord, the “old self” is being thrown off and the “new self” is being put on.
Spending ample time in His presence is key. Seek His face, study His word, and communicate with Him in prayer daily.
Even when it feels like no change is happening, you can trust that not only is God working behind the scenes on your behalf, but He is also transforming you from the inside out.
God has given us amazing, complex minds to make decisions, and each decision we make has impacts and consequences.
To ensure we are making choices that align with God’s will for our journey of renewal, we need to know Him as He truly is.
When you study the word, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you through it and highlight the things He wants to show you. When this happens, things in scripture will begin to jump out to you that you never noticed before!
The more you live close and clinging to God’s hand, the more you will become like Him. You will be walking in the love-light of His presence and glory, transformed and renewed!
“Dear Heavenly Father, I want to be living closely and right standing with you. Never let me wander from you long. Thank you for the change and renewal you are doing in my mind. Help me to consistently spend time with you so I can become more like you! Amen.”
With Love,
