Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
- Hebrews 12:11
Being scolded and disciplined as a child was never fun.
While it may be unpleasant or even embarrassing in the moment, discipline produces growth and maturity in our character. Just as a mother and father discipline their children, so God does the same for us.
Why?
Because He loves us.
Not only that, He disciplines us because of his Holiness and because He has also called us to be holy and set apart from the world.
If God didn’t care about us, He would leave us to our own bad habits and destruction.
But because of His great love, He knows what is best for us. He wants us to grow. He wants us to be healthy, holy and live in freedom. He wants us to mature, be refined and grow into the calling He has placed over each of our lives.
All of these things come with discipline.
So, whenever you find yourself being disciplined or corrected by your Heavenly Father, know that it is not out of judgement, but out of His love for you!
While discipline is never pleasant in the moment, you can have joy knowing that afterwards it will yield the peaceable fruit of righteousness within you! You are being continuously transformed daily in your walk with the Lord into a mighty warrior of His kingdom!
With Love,
