Daily Devotional • Proverbs 3:5-6 • Trusting God With the Path Ahead

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to trust God even when we cannot see the entire path ahead. When we surrender our plans, questions, and uncertainties to Him, He faithfully guides our steps. Today, reflect on where God is inviting you to trust Him more deeply.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on our own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

- Proverbs 3:5-6

Decisions are a part of life.

Some we make without even thinking about them—from what is for dinner to what to wear.

However, some decisions have the potential to affect others, our reputations, and our witness.

Yet, other choices don’t have a right or wrong aspect to them. So how do we know which one is best? How do we make the right decision that honors the Lord and provides the best course of action for our lives?

Did you know that God does not measure success in terms of results but in terms of obedience?

He gives us the free will and choice to live our lives as we desire.

That gift of freedom is so special because it allows us to choose to trust and follow Him.

If God took away our free will, we would be like robots.

Instead, He desires that we choose to have a relationship with Him.

As your heart and mind align with Him, you will have peace in your decision-making.

God is looking at your heart. He will support you, faithfully following Him.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, make your ways known to me today. Please guide me in your ways so that my path will be made straight. Please help me in the decisions ahead of me to follow you and honor you. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

Trusting God sounds simple until we encounter uncertainty. We naturally want answers, timelines, and control over what comes next. Yet Proverbs 3 reminds us that God's wisdom far exceeds our own.

As you journal today, consider where you may be holding tightly to your own understanding and where God may be inviting you to surrender and trust His direction.

Journal & Reflect

  • What area of your life feels uncertain or unresolved right now?
  • How have you seen God's guidance and faithfulness in previous seasons?
  • What would it look like to practically trust God with this situation today?

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for being faithful even when I cannot see the road ahead. Forgive me for the times I rely more on my own understanding than on Your wisdom. Help me trust You with every area of my life—my plans, my worries, my relationships, and my future. Give me the courage to follow where You lead and the peace to rest in Your guidance. Thank You for directing my steps and walking beside me every day.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Message from Kara

Proverbs 3:5-6 has been one of my anchor verses through seasons of uncertainty. Whenever I find myself wanting all the answers, God gently reminds me that my responsibility is not to figure everything out—it's to trust Him.

The truth is, we rarely get to see the entire path ahead. But we do know the One who leads us. And He is faithful.

If you're carrying questions about the future today, I encourage you to place them back into God's hands. He sees what you cannot see, and His plans are always rooted in love. Trust Him with the next step, and then the one after that. He will continue to guide you. You don't have to walk this journey alone.

With gratitude,
Kara 🤍
