Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
- Proverbs 3:5-6
What is the opposite of trust? Worry!
And I am the biggest culprit of it. I worry about the past, the present, and the future. I worry about things that happened that I can’t change and things that might happen or are happening. Worry, fear, worry.
But God’s Word tells me that I am to trust Him.
Worrying means I don’t trust God’s best for my life, which isn’t how I want to live or the example I want to be to those around me.
Ultimately, I believe that God has good things for me. I believe that He is for me.
However, there are moments when I’m struggling, hurting, or working through things that I realize in the profound quiet moments of my life; if I’m honest, I think, but what if, “What if God answers differently than this prayer I’ve been praying. What if the pain doesn’t stop, the relationship isn’t healed, and the outcome isn’t how I had hoped?”
Even then, God tells me to trust Him. He tells me not to rely on my own understanding.
Isn’t that hard? It is for me.
I think, “But God, I really want this or hope for that.”
And He continues to say, lean not on your own understanding.
Instead, acknowledge Him. All I must do is acknowledge Him, and He will make my path straight.
Are you worried about the direction you are going? Are you uncertain of God’s plans for your life? Acknowledge and trust Him; He will direct you where you should go. He has this!
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You so much for caring about me and my future. Thank You for knowing me better than I know myself and understanding all I hold precious. I trust You with it all. Amen.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
