Daily Devotional • Psalm 150:1-6

Hallelujah! Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him in his mighty expanse. Praise him for his powerful acts; praise him for his abundant greatness. Praise him with the blast of a ram’s horn; praise him with the harp and lyre. Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and flute. Praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that breathes praise the Lord….  - Psalm 150:1-6

Praise is powerful.

In the Bible, the word “praise” occurs about 259 times and “worship” occurs around 188 times.

What a wonderful reminder of how important it is to praise and worship the Lord.

After all, the reason God created us was to worship Him!

“The people I formed for myself will declare my praise.” –Isaiah 43:21

All throughout the Bible, we see many examples of God’s people praising Him. King David was known to dance wildly before the Lord with abandon! We can also see the many Psalms and songs he wrote in awe and adoration for God. King David was very passionate in his praise for the Lord.

When we praise the Lord, it’s much more than singing a happy song. In the spiritual realm, praise and worship is also a weapon of warfare. Satan and his minions can’t stand it when we exalt the name of Jesus and praise the Lord. They have no choice but to flee.

Praising and magnifying the Lord’s name causes bondages to break loose, strongholds to come down, and chains to fall!

It increases our connection with God, fortifies our spirit and brings freedom.

The Lord is beyond worthy of all our praise and worship. His goodness and holiness are immeasurable. Praising Him should not be something we only do on Sunday mornings, no, our lives should be saturated with it!

  • Praise Him when you awake.
  • Praise Him before you lay down to sleep.
  • Praise Him in the car on your way to work.
  • Praise Him while you cook dinner.
  • Praise Him in the shower.
  • Praise Him when you’re standing in line at the checkout.

Today, carve out time to lift up praise to God! He is worthy!

Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!

With Love,
Paper Sunday

I love these devotional and look forward to them every day. Thank you so much for providing them to uplift and encourage others. They always seem to speak the right words at the right time. I especially enjoy Pastor Harp’s insightful messages as he is always somehow on track with the ongoing preaching and teaching of the Word in my church. Thank you so much for your ministry!

Lately everything thing I’ve been reading has been telling me to praise God. I think God was trying to get my attention. I so enjoyed your devotion on praise I had to share it with friends.
