Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
- Psalm 55:22
Praise as strength training.
I started working out again in 2021, not to lose weight at much as to increase my strength and endurance.
It did not start off feeling good. That first workout was hard. In fact, it felt impossible.
My muscles were weak, my endurance was just about non-existent, and it was sheer willpower that kept me going.
I didn’t feel like working out at all, but I knew I had to do it if I wanted to be stronger!
I was stiff and sore those first weeks, but I kept going, because I knew the other side of that pain was the strength.
Heartbreak and hurt come into our lives and leave us weak and feeling like we can’t endure anymore… but I’ve come to recognize that praise is like strength training.
If we praise every day, even on the days we don’t at all feel like it, even on the days when our hearts are sore from the pain and loss, we give more control of our hearts and minds to the Holy Spirit and we are spiritually strengthened.
He sustains us through a power that is beyond our own willpower.
I know many of you who read this are hurting in some way. Can I encourage you to praise through your hurting heart today? Put on a praise song or repeat this verse, but surrender yourself to God and let His power strengthen and sustain you.
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22)
With Love,
Janay
