Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
- Romans 2:4 NLT
The goodness of God leads men to repentance.
To repent doesn’t mean to say you’re sorry, it means to turn and go the other way.
To no longer do what you’ve been doing. Preaching hell to people won’t lead them to heaven.
The goodness of Jesus does!
When Jesus told Peter, who had been fishing all night, to cast his net to the side to catch fish, he caught more fish than he had ever caught. The miracle made him realize who Jesus was and that Peter was a sinner. Jesus never listed the sins he committed. He said I will make you fishers of men.
Jesus’s goodness brought Peter to repentance.
God is interested in you carrying out his will and purpose for your life. He knows that we can fall into error and make mistakes.
But we don’t live in those mistakes. We learn from them. We grow from them.
Thank you Lord that your mercies are new every morning. Thank you that in my error you cover me in your goodness. I will follow after your will and purpose for my life. Thank you for leading me.
In Jesus Name,
Amen.
