Crashing waves on the beach

Daily Devotional • I Peter 5:7

Life often gives us plenty to worry about, but 1 Peter 5:7 offers a comforting invitation: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." God never intended for us to carry our burdens alone. When we release our worries into His hands, we discover the peace that comes from trusting His loving care.

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

- I Peter 5:7

Have you ever felt the waves of panic rising as you faced a decision, task, or some difficulty in your life?

It can feel overwhelming, even fearful at times.

However, if you stood on the beach and watched the waves roll in with steadiness, you may notice that while they lap at your feet, they cannot knock you down.

It is only when we venture past the safety of the shoreline into the waves that we are shaken and tossed.

Life is very much like the ocean.

While we don’t know what the waves will bring in, we do know that we have the stability of the Lord to hold us steady.

He is our safety, our comforter, our assurance!

He will keep us stable when trials roll into our lives. He will protect us as we cling tightly to the shore of His direction and love.

Today, what is God asking you to trust Him to provide? Do you need His strength or direction? Do you desire His peace and comfort? Then, all you have to do is rely on Him because He cares deeply for you.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, be my steady shore. Hold me tight as the waves crash up upon me. Fill me with your peace and love today. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

Peter's words remind us that anxiety is not something we must hide from God. Instead, every worry, fear, and unanswered question can become an opportunity to draw closer to Him. As you reflect today, consider what burdens you've been carrying and what it might look like to place them fully into God's capable hands.

Journal & Reflect

  • What worry or burden has been occupying my thoughts most recently?
  • What makes it difficult for me to fully surrender this concern to God?
  • How have I experienced God's care and faithfulness during past challenges?

Frequently Asked Questions

Casting your anxiety on God means intentionally bringing your worries, fears, and concerns to Him through prayer and trusting Him with what you cannot control.

Why does Peter emphasize that God cares for us?

Peter reminds believers that God's invitation to surrender our burdens is rooted in His love. We can trust Him because He genuinely cares about every detail of our lives.

Journaling allows you to identify your worries, pray through them, and look back on moments where God has provided peace, guidance, and faithfulness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for caring so deeply for me. You see every worry, fear, and burden that weighs on my heart. Today, I choose to place those concerns into Your hands. Help me trust You with what I cannot control and remind me that I never carry life's challenges alone. Fill my heart with Your peace and teach me to rest in Your faithfulness. When anxiety rises, draw me back to Your promises and Your presence.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Message from Kara

There have been seasons in my life when worries seemed easier to carry than surrender. Yet every time I return to 1 Peter 5:7, I'm reminded that God never asked us to be strong enough to carry everything ourselves. He simply asks us to bring it to Him.

Whatever is weighing on your heart today, know that it matters to God because you matter to Him. My prayer is that you'll experience the comfort, peace, and assurance that come from resting in His loving care.

Thank you for spending a few moments in God's Word with us today.

Praying for you,
Kara  🤍
