I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

One of the titles Jesus is given in scripture is The Good Shepherd.

Back then, being a shepherd of the sheep wasn’t exactly a popular job. It required special skill and self discipline to be able to care for and lead an entire flock of sheep.

Due to their meek nature, sheep do not respond well when scared into submitting to their leader.

The shepherd needed to be gentle in his correction, yet strong and trustworthy.

It was the shepherd’s job to comfort, nourish, defend and fight for his sheep! Wherever the shepherd went, the sheep followed because they knew they could trust him.

Every day, Jesus is our shepherd guiding us along our paths. Whenever we feel lost or in need of help, we can have peace knowing our savior is there to lead us in the best way we need. He is here today to comfort, counsel, and fight for you!

Furthermore, we can also look to Jesus as the perfect example of leadership when it comes to leading others in our own life. As a follower of Christ, those around you will look to you as an example. Whether it be at home, our workplace, school or even at the grocery store, there are so many opportunities to be a leader and example for others in the same way your own Good Shepherd leads you!
