Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
- John 14:27
The holidays are a busy time of the year. There are gatherings, shopping, decorating, programs, shipping, traveling, and cooking, to name just a few things.
Yet, God tells us to come to Him and will give us peace.
He desires to calm your anxious thoughts when you feel overwhelmed or harried. How unique are His gifts to us!
Instead of trying to figure out everything on your own, come to God and rest in His love and peace. Then, as you lean into total dependence on Christ, you will find your heart calms, and your mind doesn’t feel so scattered because God desires to restore you to wholeness.
It is easy this time of year to try and please everyone. But God calls you to look to Him and His ways. He doesn’t desire you to live in constant anxiety, rushing about.
Instead, He wants you to stay in touch with Him during your busiest moments, relying on His goodness, remembering what the true meaning of Christmas is—the birth of our Savior—the gift of the Prince of Peace.
As you reflect on purchasing gifts for loved ones, what is God calling you to give to Him? Is it your time? Or perhaps it is your trust.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
