What is the best gift you have ever been given? Was it a surprise or something you had wanted for a long time? Was it something better than you had hoped for?

Perhaps no other verse in the Bible explains the magnitude of God’s love for us like John 3:16. This verse describes how God sacrificed His Son, Jesus, for the sins of the entire world. If you believe in Him, your sins are forgiven, your soul is saved, and you receive the gift of eternal life.

I have heard this verse many times throughout my Christian life. However, the older I get, the more I realize the magnitude of God’s sacrifice.

I cannot imagine sacrificing my child’s life for someone else’s sin.

And yet, God did that very thing. He is giving and loving beyond what we could ever think or imagine. He values a relationship with us so much that He offered a way for us to Him through Jesus. What an incredible gift!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for the mercies you extend to me each day! Could you help me to be more like you each day? Amen.
