Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip; he who watches over you will not slumber.

- Psalm 121: 2-3

What do you do at the end of a long day? How do you unwind? Do you need quiet?

You may like to talk to your spouse or loved ones. Perhaps you hit the shower first, go for a walk, or go to the gym before dinner.

However, at some point in the evening, your eyes become heavy, your body starts to feel fatigued, and you head to bed.

Rest is needed.

Without sleep and rest, we become unable to function. We may even become irritable or irrational.

However, the Bible tells us that God doesn’t slumber. He watches over us and never takes a break. Neither will He allow our feet to slip. How reassuring is that?

It means that nothing can deter God from watching over us. We are safe with Him. We know that no matter what comes our way, it is sifted through His hands.

So, He will be with us through it and will not leave us. He will walk through each hurt and difficulty with us.

And He promises us an eternity with Him, without pain, discomfort, or suffering.

So tonight, as you close your eyes and sleep, thank God that He is with you. He can restore your heart and mind. Whatever worries are heavy on your heart and keeping your thoughts going in circles, God wants you to give those to Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please be with me and quiet my anxious thoughts. Give me rest and help me to remember that you are watching over me. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
