Daily Devotional • Psalm 130:5 • Waiting With Hope

Psalm 130:5 reminds us that waiting on God is never wasted. Even in uncertain seasons, we can place our hope in His Word and trust that He is working faithfully behind the scenes. His promises steady our hearts while we wait.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.

- Psalm 130:5

When we think of seasons of waiting, we often think of it being a difficult and trying time.

We may feel like waiting is boring, stressful, and unfruitful.

Especially in our society and cultural mindset of, “I want it now!” It makes it harder to have patience and peace in waiting for things.

However, when we’re waiting on the Lord, we can have hope, excitement, peace and joy!

Waiting itself doesn’t need to be a negative experience.

Think of all the times in your life when you were waiting for something good to happen. When you were a child, didn’t you get excited for Christmas time? When you knew a loved one of yours was coming to visit at a certain time of the year, wasn’t it exciting and joyful to think about all the fun things you would get to do together once they finally arrived? What about when a baby was on the way? Waiting for a child to arrive and being joyful about a new family member is an amazing time of life!

While waiting can be hard, it doesn’t have to be. With the Lord, waiting can be exciting and joyful, especially when we know we’re waiting on something wonderful. It is also during these seasons of waiting God often uses to refine and prepare us for the outcome on the other side.

When you wait on God, you can have peace knowing the outcome of His promises are secure. You can have hope and freedom in the waiting, because you have put your hope in Him, who is your firm foundation!

Are you currently in a season of waiting? Be encouraged today knowing God longs to give to you many things that are so worth the wait. In Him, you don’t have to dread the wait, but have peace, joy and excitement as you walk hand in hand with Him.

Prayer: “Lord, it is a joy to wait on you! I put my hope in your word and your promises. I can have peace in the waiting, because I know your outcomes are always good.”

Sarah Sherstad

Waiting seasons can feel heavy when answers seem delayed or circumstances remain uncertain. But Psalm 130:5 invites us into a different posture — one of hopeful trust. As you journal today, let this be a space where you release your fears, remember God’s faithfulness, and anchor your heart in His promises instead of your timeline.

Journal & Reflect

  • What am I currently waiting on God for?
  • How have I seen God remain faithful in past waiting seasons?
  • What promises from Scripture can I cling to right now?

Message from Kara

Friend, I know waiting seasons can feel long and uncertain sometimes. But one thing I’ve learned is that God is always faithful in the middle of them — even when we cannot yet see what He’s doing. My prayer is that today’s devotional reminds you to hold onto hope, lean into His promises, and trust that He is gently working in ways you may not realize yet. Keep bringing your heart to Him one page, one prayer, and one day at a time. With love, Kara 🤍
