I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
- Psalm 130:5
When we think of seasons of waiting, we often think of it being a difficult, unpleasant season.
However, when we’re waiting on the Lord, we can have hope, excitement, peace and joy! Due to this, waiting itself doesn’t need to be a negative experience.
Think of all the times in your life when you were waiting for something good to happen. When you were a child, didn’t you get excited for Christmas time or your birthday that you knew was coming up soon?
When you knew a loved one of yours was coming to visit at a certain time of the year, wasn’t it exciting and joyful to think about all the fun things you would get to do together once they finally arrived?
What about when you knew you or a loved one was going to have a baby? Waiting for the baby to arrive and being joyful about a new family member is an amazing time of life!
While waiting can be hard, it doesn’t have to be. With the Lord, waiting can be exciting and joyful, especially when we know we’re waiting on something wonderful. It is also during these seasons of waiting God often uses to refine and prepare us for the outcome on the other side.
When you wait on God, you can have peace knowing the outcome of His promises are secure. You can have hope and freedom in the waiting, because you have put your hope in Him, who is your firm foundation!
Are you currently in a season of waiting? Be encouraged today knowing God longs to give to you many things that are so worth the wait. In Him, you don’t have to dread the wait, but have peace, joy and excitement as you walk hand in hand with Him.
Prayer: “Lord, it is a joy to wait on you! I put my hope in your word and your promises. I can have peace in the waiting, because I know your outcomes are always good.”

Most of us would choose immediate answers over waiting. Yet throughout Scripture, God often works powerfully in seasons of anticipation and trust. Psalm 130:6 reminds us that waiting on God is not passive—it is an active expression of faith. As you journal today, reflect on the areas where you're waiting for God to move and how He may be strengthening your trust in the process.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Psalm 130:6 mean?
The psalmist compares his anticipation for God to a watchman waiting for the sunrise. Just as morning is certain to come, God's faithfulness can be trusted even when answers seem delayed.
Why does God sometimes make us wait?
Waiting often strengthens our faith, deepens our dependence on Him, and prepares us for what He has planned. God is often working behind the scenes in ways we cannot yet see.
How can I trust God while I wait?
Stay connected to Him through prayer, Scripture, worship, and gratitude. Remembering His past faithfulness can strengthen your confidence in His future provision.
What is the difference between waiting and worrying?
Waiting with faith rests in God's character and promises. Worry focuses on uncertainty and tries to control what only God can handle.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for being faithful in every season, even when I cannot see what You are doing. Help me wait with hope and confidence, trusting that Your timing is always perfect. When impatience or worry tries to take hold, remind me of Your promises and Your unchanging character. Strengthen my faith as I wait and help me draw closer to You through every step of the journey. Thank You for being a God who is always working, even when I cannot yet see the outcome. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Message from Kara
If I'm honest, waiting is one of the hardest parts of faith for me. I naturally want answers, direction, and resolution as quickly as possible. But over the years, I've learned that some of God's most meaningful work happens in the waiting. Psalm 130:6 reminds us that waiting isn't about sitting still in frustration—it's about watching with expectation. Just as a watchman knows the morning will come, we can trust that God will be faithful to fulfill His promises. If you're in a season of waiting today, I want to encourage you not to lose heart. God sees every prayer you've prayed and every burden you've carried. Even when the answer feels delayed, His timing is never late. May you find peace in knowing that the God you're waiting on is completely trustworthy. With love, Kara
