The Lord is nigh (close) to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
- Psalm 34:18
This life can hold so much sorrow and suffering.
And, with technology, social media, and the constant barrage from news, we see the heartache and calamity much more than generations before us.
When we witness the extreme devastation happening in the world around us, we may say a little thank you to the lord that it wasn’t us…but what if it was us?
What if we were the one devastated with loss.
The scripture above says we are not alone.
He "is nigh" to such people; he dwells with them, looks to them, revives their heart, heals them, and even "saves" them.
It doesn’t mean the pain of loss will go away entirely and God doesn’t promise that whatever trial you face will be your last.
In Psalm 34:19 it says, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
In this Psalm, it seems clear that those who are going through trials are the ones who are crushed in spirit.
Meditating on the promises made by the Psalmist for those who take refuge in the Lord (Ps 34:8)...blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.
We are not forsaken, abandoned, or alone in our calamity.
He is close to you.
With Love,
Sierra
