Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing, listen to my cry for help my King and my God for to you I pray.

- Psalm 5:1-2

Are you a good listener?

I think for most of us, talking is easier than listening.

Authentic listening requires us to be still and concentrate on what someone is saying to us.

And that is true with our spiritual lives as well. How often do we postpone reading God’s Word as our day gets busy?

And yet, it is the foundation of our spiritual lives!

Reading God’s Word is how the Lord feeds our need for Him. It is one of the most significant ways He communicates with us and shares His heart and way of living.

The more we are in the Bible studying it and seeking to understand what we are reading, the more our minds, actions, and wills are changed and align with those of Christ.

The Bible is the living, breathing Word of God. It has the power to change our lives completely.

I love the Psalms because God understands our aching and questioning.

Our problems seem less overwhelming when we come to Him and ask for His direction.

Our circumstances haven’t changed; however, how we view them has changed.

Is there anything that you need God’s direction on today? What does He want to tell you? Go to His Word and ask Him to speak to you and guide you through each day.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I am struggling. I need your help, direction, and comfort. So quiet my anxious heart as I rely on you and your Word today. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
