And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever---the Spirit of truth.

- John 14:15

God gives us His Holy Spirit to indwell us when we accept Christ as our Savior.

He is our paraclete—or advocate and Counselor. How comforting is that?

When we feel down, God is with us to provide all we need.

How often, when I struggle or feel lonely or sad, does God give me a little sign of His love for me? It might be a verse, a phone call from a friend, or even a nudge from my little dog.

God’s Holy Spirit is His guarantee that He will do all He has promised.

It is Him letting us know that we belong to God now. We are forever His, and He will be exalted above all the nations. It is a declaration of His deity.

Have you ever noticed that our ways lead us to worry, frustration, and sometimes sin, whereas God’s ways are life-giving?

He tells us to be still and know that He is God.

In other words, we can believe He will do what is best for us! He and His ways are far above ours. In addition, He tells us, He will lead us beside still waters (Psalm 23: 2) and quiet our anxious hearts. (Phil 4:7)

Not only is the Holy Spirit a seal saying we forever belong to God, but it is also God’s power at work within us, helping us do His will.

God knows the future, and while we do not, we are empowered to prepare for it by following closely after Him and doing what His Word instructs.

His power in us is transforming. We don’t have to know what the future holds to have peace. We only have to know the Savior, who will give us that peace.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for giving your Holy Spirit to me. Thank you for your comfort, direction, and guiding help through all situations. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
