Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.
- Psalm 73:23-24
The Lord is your counsel, and He holds you by your right hand!
When fear and anxiety seem to be plaguing your mind, stop and whisper the name of Jesus.
Remind yourself that He is with you continually, and not one moment goes by where He hasn’t been by your side.
Just as a child runs to their father or mother and grabs their hands for guidance when walking, so can we grab the hand of our Heavenly Father!
In the same way, just when a child goes to their elders for advice and wisdom, so can we go to our Heavenly Father for His divine counsel.
When we face big decisions in our lives, lean in with prayer.
Thank the Lord we have Him to go to in prayer and can seek His face freely! He will be faithful to give you His counsel and guidance.
After you have prayed, thank Him that His will be done and release the outcome into His hands.
No matter what you need guidance for, know that the Lord is always with you and the Holy Spirit is there to be your constant companion and counselor. Regardless of whether your life’s circumstances are currently rocky or smooth, cling to the hand of your Heavenly Father. He will never let you go or allow you to be separated from His love!

When life feels uncertain, it's easy to wonder which direction to take or whether we're making the right decisions. Psalm 73:23–24 reminds us that we don't have to navigate life alone. God stays beside us, offers His wisdom, and lovingly guides our steps. Frequently Asked Questions
What does Psalm 73:23–24 mean?
Psalm 73:23–24 reminds us that God is continually present with His people. He holds us close, guides us with His counsel, and promises an eternal future with Him. The passage offers reassurance that we are never left to navigate life on our own.
What does it mean that God holds my right hand?
This imagery represents God's closeness, care, and guidance. Just as a loving parent holds a child's hand to offer security and direction, God invites us to depend on Him as we move through life's challenges.
How does God guide us through difficult decisions?
We can seek God's guidance through prayer, Scripture, wise and trustworthy counsel, and thoughtful reflection. As we bring our decisions to Him, we can ask for wisdom and remain open to His direction rather than trying to control every outcome.
How can I trust God when I don't know what comes next?
Focus on what you know about God's character: He is faithful, loving, and present. Take the next wise step you can identify, continue praying for guidance, and release the parts of the future you cannot control.
Does God promise to make every decision easy?
No. Following God does not mean every decision will be simple or every circumstance will unfold as we expect. But we can seek His wisdom, trust His presence, and find confidence in knowing that He remains with us along the way.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for being with me continually and for holding me close when I feel uncertain about the path ahead. I am grateful that I don't have to make every decision or face every challenge in my own strength.
Please guide me with Your wisdom. Help me quiet my worries, listen for Your direction, and turn to You before rushing ahead. When I cannot see what comes next, remind me that You already know the way. Give me the courage to take the next step in faith and the humility to release the outcome into Your hands.
Thank You for Your constant presence, Your loving guidance, and the hope I have in You. Help me walk closely with You today.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Message from Kara
One of the most comforting things about this verse is the picture of God holding our hand. It reminds me that He doesn't expect us to figure out every step of life on our own.
There are seasons when we want a clear answer, a detailed plan, and the reassurance that everything will work out exactly as we hope. I've found that those are often the moments when I most need to slow down, pray, and remember who is walking beside me.
God may not always show us the entire path at once, but we can keep seeking His wisdom and trusting His character. We can bring Him our questions, ask for direction, and take the next step with Him.
If you're facing a big decision or feeling unsure about what's ahead, I hope you'll remember this: you don't have to know the whole way when you know the One who is guiding you.
May you feel His nearness today and find peace in knowing that He is holding you by the hand.
With Love,
Kara 🤍
