For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.

Have you ever had trouble controlling your mind?

Intrusive thoughts seem to come and go as they please, sometimes concocting up the most ridiculous scenarios or obscene imagery.

Before you know it, they are capable of sending you spiraling into a whirlwind of stress and a bunny-trail of offenses.

The human mind is powerful. It is also the most restless and wayward part of mankind. Even if we learn to control our tongue, our minds still seem to rebel and turn against us and God.

With the freedom of being able to think for ourselves, comes a challenge.

The mind is wonderfully complex and intricate, making it the most difficult to bridle. It is why the enemy oftentimes attacks our minds with lies, stress, and anxiety, because he knows how much it affects us.

Knowing our mind is a battlefield, we must be on alert every day.

It can be so easy to let our thoughts run rampant on autopilot. Our thoughts are so powerful that we can literally think ourselves into a bad mood. Thankfully, there’s an upside. If we can think our way into stress and anxiety, we can also think our way into peace and joy.

How do we do this? By opening ourselves up to God’s radiant presence and allowing Him to control our thoughts.

By continually stepping into His presence and diving into His word, the truth of scripture will gradually penetrate your mind more and more. By the renewing of our minds with the word of God, we will be transformed! You will be filled with peace and joy as His spirit consumes the spirit of your mind!

If you feel like your mind has been out of control, ask the Holy Spirit to permeate your thinking. Ask and thank Him for giving you His thoughts, and to help you cast down every thought of the enemy.

“Holy Spirit, thank you for permeating my mind and giving me your thoughts. Thank you for helping me to receive your peace and joy.”
