And now these three remain; faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Do you ever find yourself reacting to a situation out of frustration, letting your feelings take over?

Have words come to mind and out of your mouth that you regret?

Paul tells us in Corinthians that love is an action and not an emotion. He tells us that faith, hope, and love are all important, but the greatest of the three is love. So if love is an action, what does that look like?

It is patient and kind. It isn’t jealous, boastful, arrogant or selfish.

It isn’t rude. It doesn’t intimidate others or seek its own way. It is not easily provoked or exasperated.

Love does not rejoice when others suffer, and it doesn’t stew over injustices and hurts.

Love rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, offering protection from hostile elements.

I Peter 4:8 says that “love covers a multitude of sins.”

It protects other people. Love thinks the best and trusts until there is not a reason to do so. It never gives up on what God can do in our lives and in the lives of others.

It perseveres! For all of eternity, we will get to experience God’s love as we trust and have faith in Him.

Today: Love when they least expect it and when they least deserve it.
