For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.
- 2 Timothy 1:7
Are you fearful? What is worrying you? Is it something that happened in the past? Or is it something that could happen but hasn’t yet?
Maybe, you are going through a difficulty right now that is taking up every inch of your thoughts, weighing heavily on your heart and mind.
Whatever it is, God wants you to know He is for you and with you.
He tells us that He did not give us a spirit of fear but rather one of power, love, and self-control.
When we use the self-control God has given us, we often avoid those things that can bring us difficulty.
When you’re afraid, do you freeze, or do you flee?
Are your fears the unfounded lies of the enemy? So often, the enemy uses our fears to render us useless for the Kingdom. He will use our fears and negative thoughts to distract and discourage us.
Allowing those feelings to creep up can cause us to worry and become ineffective. Those fears can even cause us to ignore or put off what scares us. Instead, God wants us to put our trust in Him, desiring that we lean on Him for all the tasks He has called us to do.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, please help me to trust you. Help me to turn over my concerns and worries to you so that I am not overwhelmed each day. Thank you for loving me and helping me to live in a way that brings peace to my life.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
