Daily Devotional • Isaiah 42:3 (NIV)

A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out. In faithfulness He will bring forth justice.  - Isaiah 42:3 (NIV)

A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out. In faithfulness He will bring forth justice.

- Isaiah 42:3 (NIV)

Even when you feel like a bent reed or a dying flame, open your heart to the Lord.

Even when you feel like you’re on the brink of snapping, know that you can also feel the gentleness, compassion and kindness of the Lord.

Even though you may feel helpless in these moments, know that the God of help and the Holy Comforter are with you at all times.

Instead of getting frustrated in your weakness, embrace your need for a savior. As you pour out your troubles to Him and actively lay down your problems, God will be able to offer you His peace that transcends your human understanding.

The healing and restorative work of God is most effective and well received when you are resting in His presence.

The secular world glorifies the idea of self-sufficiency and self-saviorship, but ultimately this is unattainable.

The burdens and pressures of the world are harsh, but your God is gentle. Jesus Himself said that those who are weary and burdened can come to Him, and He will give them rest. (Matthew 11:28-29) His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is gentle and humble in heart with deep compassion for you!

Even in the midst of the trials of life where you feel like your inner flame is on the verge of being snuffed out, draw close to Him.

Today, if you feel like a bruised reed or smoldering flame, take time to soak in His presence.

Find time to go ‘off-duty’ and just rest under God’s watchful care. Instead of fearing that you will buckle underneath the pressure, you can find peace, hope and strength in the burden relieving presence and loving compassion that is your God!

“Lord, even when life’s circumstances are harsh, I know you are gentle. Thank you for your compassion and love for me. Help me to seek you and find you today as I dwell in your presence.”

With Love,
Paper Sunday
