Daily Devotional • John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.  - John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.

- John 10:10

Spiritual warfare is the ongoing conflict in this world between humanity and the spiritual realm, namely Satan and those who do his bidding.

Satan despises us and wants to discourage, destroy and derail us.

However, we do not have to be afraid because God’s Word tells us that He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world! 1 John 4:4

To help us better understand, God compares Satan to a roaring lion seeking those he can devour.

God gives us this word picture of the lion, so we understand His ways are designed to protect us, profit us, and provide us with life. In contrast, Satan’s ways lead to death.

However, as believers in Jesus, we have the power of God to help us resist the devil’s temptations. We have the armor of God we can put on to protect us. (Ephesians 6:11)

And, since every aspect of our lives is in God’s hands, we never have to be afraid.

God is working on behalf of each of us and will bring good out of every difficulty we face. He desires to give each of us life.

While Satan wants to take, kill, steal, and destroy, God reminds us that one day He will cast Satan into the lake of fire forever. There will be a time when pain, suffering, hurt, betrayal, and everything painful will be over and done. No more.

Until that day, we trust God, praying and staying close to Him and His ways.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for providing a way through you that leads to life. Please help me to stay close to you and avoid the traps and snares of the enemy. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
