The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
- Psalm 103:8
Did you know God tells us we do not have to be afraid? He is merciful and gracious towards us, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Does that align with your feelings about Him?
Often, we base our thoughts about the Lord on our experiences with our earthly fathers. We may even doubt the Lord when we face and experience trauma, hurt, and disappointment.
But God is perfect. He is overflowing with love and compassion towards you. God’s care is eternal.
When we focus on Him as Judge and Lawgiver, we forget that He is compassionate towards us in His judgment. He remembers our humanness. He examines our hearts and lives and, in His mercy, takes everything into account. However, we should never take His compassion or kindness as an excuse to sin or reason our sin away.
While God interacts with us in His love, He grieves our sinfulness. Therefore, we should seek Him daily and desire to know Him and His ways. Each day, we are privileged to consult with Him and hear from Him through His Word.
Psalm 125 tells us we are to trust Him, and He will surround us like the mountains surrounding Jerusalem.
Mountains are one example that the Scriptures use to represent security and stability. So as God’s people, looking at the mountains that He made should reassure us of His dependability. How beautiful is that?
Prayer for today: Thank you for being more magnificent than the most beautiful and majestic mountain, Lord. Thank you for reminding me that you are reliable, consistent, and steady. Please help me to honor you today in all I think and do. Amen.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
