You have kept count of my sorrows; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?
- Psalm 56:8
Are you grieving today?
Have you lost a loved one, relationship, job, or possibility? Whatever feels like a weight on your shoulders, you do not have to bear it alone.
Did you know that God’s Word tells us there is a time and place under heaven for mourning?
So often, grief hits us at the most bizarre times. It could be a song, a place, a scent, and all of a sudden, you are taken back to that time or shared memory—sideswiped by emotion.
Then, as you move through the initial stages of grief and shock wears off, your heart and mind have a bit more space to face your new reality. And that is immensely painful.
Life can be brutally hard and grossly unfair at times.
You may feel like no one understands or loves you, but Jesus does.
He loves you so much He collects your tears in a bottle. He knows every single tear you cry.
What you are feeling is normal and natural. Loss is real. You are grieving that loss and the loss of what should have been--of time stolen.
So it’s okay to feel sad, to lament and grieve the loss, remembering Jesus is with you. He desires to give you a future and a hope in and through Him.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, please be near my broken heart. Heal that aching inside me and give me beauty from these ashes. Amen.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
