Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
- Matthew 10:16, NKJV
Most of us have a co-worker, friend, or relative who needs to hear the Gospel.
Sharing the gospel can sometimes feel easy or comfortable, but often when God sends us, it’s not always to feel-good places.
We want to believe that God sends us to only safe places. Not true!
The Bible says the Lord orders our steps, and God gives us clear answers in those ‘called’ places – be wise and harmless.
Let’s concentrate on the metaphor of wolves. Jesus is saying the wolf is the number one enemy of the sheep; you will have enemies. Of course, the sheep are defenseless. The sheep trust and rely upon the shepherd.
As believers, we depend upon our shepherd - Jesus.
He leads us, and He sends us. Where He sends us, He protects us.
Yes, Christians have enemies. In fact, in this vitriol environment and season, everyone has enemies. Christians are unique in how we are to handle attacks from their enemy.
God uses unconventional methods in how we handle our conflicts!
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use and persecute you. (Matthew 5:44, NKJV)
Prayer is the key to all victory and breakthroughs. Pray before you head out to share your faith. God will go before you, filling your heart with wisdom, and your words will land with harmless strength.
Blessings,
Thomas
