Psalm 73:26 Devotional: God Is the Strength of My Heart

When your strength feels gone, Psalm 73:26 reminds us that God is the strength of our heart and our portion forever.

Your flesh and your heart may fail, but God is the strength of your heart and your portion forever.

- Psalm 73:26

God is your portion.

A portion is an inheritance. And what a beautiful inheritance you have in Christ. As a child of God, you will one day have a new perfect body. You won’t hurt or be subject to injury or disease. You will be made perfect in and through Christ to live eternally with Him.

The moment we are born, we inherit the sin nature that comes from Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Simply put, because of sin, our bodies are no longer perfect. However, when we accept the gift of salvation through Christ, we inherit the kingdom of God.

We become God’s children. And as His, we can look forward to an eternity with Christ in a body that is perfect. No more pain or suffering!

As you think of your own family today, what things are unique to you? Does your family enjoy sports, cooking, or perhaps going to the lake? Do you have a special greeting or ways to express your love for one another that is unique to you?

As part of God’s family, we know that He will work all things together for our good. We know that He is with us no matter where we go. We know that one day, He will remove all the struggles and pain we have here on earth.

You can trust Him. He is the one true Shepherd, Savior, provider, and friend. He is always good, kind, loving, faithful, and just. Draw near to Him knowing that one day, your body will be perfect through Him.

Ask Him to be the strength of your heart today.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
