My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth!
- 1 John 3:18 NKJV
The church is not perfect, and everyone makes mistakes.
Some mistakes matter, and some don’t.
The ones that do matter must be recognized and changed.
Some of our churches need to break out of our familiar evangelism trends.
The church should practice “show and tell.”
We should show the love of God rather than talk about the love of God.
Maybe we should consider modeling the works of Jesus and not just preaching about what He did.
- Jesus was not just a messenger; He met the needs of people.
- Jesus did not just speak great words; He met significant needs.
Just sharing a message is not enough; let’s model the deeds of love.
Words can be empty, but love acts!
So, we, the church, must shift these old practices and try new strategies. So, we do not want to be the church that speaks swelling words; we want to be the church with big hearts and hands full of resources to supply the needs of humanity.
We must remember “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 NKJV)
Father, lead us to those who need you and show us how to reach this generation. We know that you know every need. So, show us how to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
Blessings,
Thomas
