So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
- 1 John 4:16
Your basic capacity to know God is to first believe He loves you.
His love for you is incomprehensible…it may be a life work to encounter it, but first...do you believe it?
John said after we begin to believe it we will then live it.
Paul’s prayer from prison was for his brothers in Christ to increase in love…not stay safe, hit a fund-raising goal or grow the church!
His prayer was for them to grow in their capacity to love.
TODAY: When I feel lost spiritually let me retreat into the simple foundation of your love for me and my love for you.
For God is my witness, how I long for all of you...And this I pray, that your love may abound [grow] more and more. Philippians 1:8

Prayer
God, Thank You for loving me with a love that never changes. Help me to truly believe it, not just in my mind but in my heart. Teach me to live rooted in Your love and to reflect that love to others. When I forget or doubt, remind me that I am always held by You. Amen.
Message from Kara Heckel, founder of Paper Sunday
This verse has always felt like a deep breath for my soul. 1 John 4:16 reminds me that everything begins and ends with God’s love—not performance, not pressure, just love. When I start to overcomplicate my faith or doubt where I stand, I come back to this truth. You are fully loved, right now, as you are. I’m so grateful we get to keep learning what that really means together.
