You are my friend if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servant, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friend, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.  -  John 15:14-15

- John 15:14-15

How amazing is it that the God of the universe calls us His friend? No other king or god recorded in history desired such a close relationship with their people. In this verse, Jesus is expressing how everything the Father made known to Him, he has made known to us as well.

The Lord wants to know you on such a deep level, that He desires to share His own thoughts and secrets with you. He does not hide Himself away or only make Himself available to a select few. We do not have to wait hours in line or make an appointment to seek an audience with Him. No, He wants to know each of us on a personal level in a way nobody else in creation ever could. There is no other king like Jesus.

Not only is God our best friend, He is our King and the lover of our soul. He is everything the world cannot give. We don’t need to put up a front or “fix ourselves” in order to come before His throne and commune with Him.

Today, talk to God the way you would a good friend. Know that He is always willing to listen and yearns to share His heart and thoughts with you.

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad
