Daily Devotional • Joshua 21:45 • Hope Found in God's Promises

God keeps His promises. Joshua 21:45 reminds us that not one of His good promises has failed. When circumstances make hope difficult to hold onto, we can look back at God's faithfulness and trust that His Word is still true today.

“Not one of all the Lord's good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”

- Joshua 21:45

Throughout Scripture, we see a God who keeps His word. He promised Abraham a son, delivered Israel from slavery, restored His people after exile, and fulfilled His greatest promise by sending Jesus, His only Son to rescue us from sin and bring us the hope of eternal salvation. God's faithfulness in the past gives us confidence for the future. We can trust Him to keep us in perfect peace, when our minds are stayed on Him. (Isaiah 26:3)

You may still be waiting for answers to prayers you've prayed for years. Waiting doesn't mean God has forgotten you. His promises are never empty, and His timing is always perfect. When circumstances tempt you to doubt, remember the countless times God has proven Himself faithful. The same God who fulfilled every promise then is still faithful today.

Ruth’s story always encourages me. God provided when Ruth had nothing. After losing her husband, Ruth followed Naomi to a foreign land, trusting God with an uncertain future. The Lord led her to the fields of Boaz, where He provided food, protection, and favor (Ruth 2).

God redeemed what seemed lost. Ruth's story began with grief and loss but ended with restoration. God gave her a loving husband, a family, and the privilege of becoming the great-grandmother of David and an ancestor of Jesus Christ (Ruth 4).

God honored Ruth's faithfulness. Ruth remained loyal to Naomi (her mother-in-law) and trusted the God of Israel. In return, God proved Himself faithful, turning her waiting into a legacy that impacted generations. Our waiting seasons may be long, but they are never outside of God's care or His perfect plan.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that every promise You make is trustworthy. Help me cling to Your Word instead of my worries. Strengthen my faith as I wait for Your perfect timing and remind me daily of Your unfailing faithfulness. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

Sometimes we need to be reminded of what we already know: God keeps His promises.

When circumstances change or prayers seem unanswered, it's easy to wonder if God is really working. But Joshua 21:45 points us back to His track record—every good promise He made to His people came to pass.

His faithfulness isn't dependent on how our circumstances look today.

Take a few moments to slow down and remember the promises of God that have carried you through other seasons. Write them down. Write down the ways you've seen Him provide, guide, comfort, and remain faithful.

Let your journal become a place where you collect reminders of God's faithfulness.

Because sometimes, when hope feels hard to find, we simply need to remember who God has always been.

Journal & Reflect • Remembering God's Faithfulness

  • What promise from God do you need to hold onto today? Write the Scripture or promise that speaks most directly to what you're facing.
  • Where have you seen God's faithfulness in your life? Think about answered prayers, unexpected provision, difficult seasons He carried you through, or moments when He gave you exactly what you needed.
  • What circumstance is making it difficult to trust right now? Name it honestly. What are you tempted to believe because of what you see happening around you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being faithful.

When I cannot see what You're doing, help me remember who You are. When circumstances make me question what comes next, remind me that Your promises have never failed.

Bring to mind the ways You have been faithful to me before. Help me remember the prayers You've answered, the doors You've opened, the strength You've provided, and the moments when You carried me when I couldn't carry myself.

Give me patience when I'm waiting and faith when I don't understand.

Help me trust Your promises even when I cannot yet see how they will unfold.

I surrender my timeline, my expectations, and my need to know exactly what comes next.

You are faithful.

Your Word is true.

And I choose to trust You.

In Jesus' name,
Amen

Message from Kara

Sometimes we need to look backward before we can find the courage to move forward.

When I don't understand what God is doing, I've found it helpful to remember what He has already done.

The prayers He has answered.
The doors He has opened.
The moments He provided when I didn't know how things would work out.
The times He gave me strength when I felt like I had none left.

Joshua 21:45 reminds us that not one of God's good promises has failed.

What a beautiful truth to carry with us. Maybe you're waiting for an answer right now. Maybe you're wondering how a situation will work out. Or maybe you're simply trying to trust God with something you can't control.

Whatever it is, I hope you'll take some time today to remember His faithfulness.

Write it down.

Make a list.

Tell God thank You.

And when doubt comes back, return to that list and remember:

God has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again.

With love ,
Kara 🤍
