Daily Devotional • Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  - Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

- Psalm 118:24

It was a really bad storm.

The rain, thunder, wind and lightening raged all night.

However, in the morning, the sun peeked over the horizon.

The neighborhood was silent and still except for the song of one little bird.

He wasn’t disturbed by the storm or darkness of the previous night. He was just sitting on the edge of the house singing his heart out.

It didn’t seem to matter that leaves were strewn about or tree branches were torn down... He just continued to sing aloud.

Hope is like that little bird. It rejoices in each new day. It sings out in adversity!

How is it possible to have hope when life resembles the aftermath of a storm?

The Bible tells us to rejoice in each day and be glad in it.

To do that, our focus has to be on Christ—on eternity with Him.

When we zero in on our circumstances, we forget that this life is temporary. What matters is eternal.

That isn’t to say that Jesus doesn’t care about us or our problems or struggles. He very much does.

But as we turn our eyes to Him, the things of this earth grow strangely dim in the LIGHT of His glory and grace!

Today: Are there any storm clouds today blocking your view of Jesus? Ask Him to help you rejoice in Him and thank Him for another day to sing His praises!

With Love,
Paper Sunday
