The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.
- Genesis 39:2
One of the deepest forms of loneliness comes when people we trust disappoint us. Relationships that once brought comfort can suddenly become sources of pain. Friends drift away, promises are broken, and expectations go unmet. The hurt can leave us questioning whether anyone is truly dependable. Sometimes, this happens when we are most needy. It could be that we are ill or experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one. During the times when we most need others are the times it seems the people we most need disappear. Often it is because people don’t know how to help. They shy away from the hard things, which can make our feelings of loneliness and rejection even worse.
Joseph understood this kind of sorrow. His brothers were terribly jealous of him and sold him into slavery. He was falsely accused and later imprisoned. Throughout his life he experienced betrayal, rejection, and abandonment. Yet he discovered a powerful truth: even when human relationships fail, God remains faithful. Genesis 39:21 tells us, the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
Not only was Joseph freed from prison, but he also became the ruler of the land, second only to King Pharaoh, ultimately choosing to forgive his brothers and save them from famine.
While people may be limited by weakness, fear, or selfishness, God never abandons His children. His love is not conditional, and His commitment never changes. He does not ask us to pretend relational wounds do not hurt. Instead, He invites us to bring our disappointment to Him. In our loneliness, we can find rest in the One whose faithfulness is perfect. When others let us down, God welcomes us into His presence and reminds us that we belong to Him. Today, as you face those who have hurt you, you have a choice to either harbor bitterness or forgive them. Can you trust God’s goodness in your life and His plan?
Prayer: Jesus, You know the pain of broken relationships and unmet expectations. Help me not to become bitter when others fail me. Instead, draw me closer to You and remind me that Your love never changes. Heal my heart and teach me to rest in Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Message from Kara
Relational hurt has a way of making us question who we can trust. I've experienced seasons where disappointment from others felt overwhelming, yet God continually reminded me that His faithfulness has never depended on the faithfulness of people.
If you're carrying the weight of a broken friendship today, I hope you'll remember Joseph's story. Even in one of the hardest seasons of his life, Scripture simply says, "The Lord was with Joseph." The same is true for you. God's presence hasn't left you, and His plans for your life are still full of hope.
With love ,
Kara 🤍
