Waiting can be lonely. When you've prayed for something for a long time, it can feel as though everyone else is moving forward while you remain in the same place. People who pray for you and ask for a breakthrough mean well when they ask for updates. However, if your reality is the same, it can bring up feelings of failure or isolation when nothing has changed. However, maybe God is doing a work in you that no one is seeing. Maybe He is giving you grace to work through bitterness, or patience in the waiting, or growing gratitude.

Scripture reminds us that God's faithfulness isn't dependent on how quickly He answers. That’s why waiting is so hard for us. We want the immediate. But Jeremiah wrote these words during a deeply painful season. Yet in the middle of sorrow, he remembered something important: God's mercies were still new every morning. Every morning meant another opportunity to experience God's faithfulness. For me, morning is always difficult. Standing and getting out of bed is an 8/10 pain. It takes time for my medications to take hold, and for my body to adjust to standing. I used to wake up angry, bitter, and complaining, to be honest. That was poisoning my mind. I decided to focus on gratitude despite the pain. While my pain is no different, my day is. I find I have way more joy and energy. Maybe today doesn't bring the answer you've been waiting for. But it brings another day of God's presence and mercy.

Maybe it is another day in which God is still working—even when you cannot see how. Waiting doesn't mean God has forgotten you. Sometimes faithfulness looks like trusting Him one more day and one more minute.

Prayer: Lord, help me wait without losing heart. When I don't understand Your timing, remind me that Your faithfulness has not changed. Give me grace for today and trust for tomorrow.  Amen.

Lord,

Thank You for Your great love and unfailing compassion. When I am tired of waiting and discouraged by what has not changed, remind me that Your faithfulness has not changed either. 

Give me grace for today instead of anxiety about tomorrow. Help me notice the small provisions, moments of joy, and signs of Your presence that I might otherwise overlook.

Meet me in my disappointment and teach me to trust You one day and one moment at a time. When I cannot see what You are doing, help me believe that You are still near and still working.
