Some friendships don’t last for long, but there is one loving friend who is joined to your heart closer than any other!

- Proverbs 18:24

Most of us have gone through seasons when a friendship came to an end.

Whether a person wronged us or we simply grew apart, it can feel lonely.

Thankfully, there is an eternal friend unlike any other who promises to never leave us.

This precious friendship is nothing you can earn or work for. It is something already given to you freely.

Because God is your eternal lover, He is also your eternal friend. He is nearer than you dare to believe, closer than the air inside your lungs.

His unseen presence is constantly present, we just don't always embrace it or recognize it.

How less lonely we would feel if we were more aware of Him!

“I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” (Hebrews 13:5 AMP)

God is the friend you have been waiting for!

  • He is the friend whom you can trust with your deepest secrets.
  • He is the friend you can call and lean upon at any moment.
  • He is your permanent partner not only in this life, but beyond the veil and into eternity.

TODAY: His gift of friendship is waiting for you. Now is your moment! Run to His arms and let Him join His heart with yours.

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad

As you reflect on Proverbs 18:24, use your Personalized Scripture Journal to consider the friendships in your life — including your relationship with God.

This verse reminds us that while many acquaintances may come and go, there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Ultimately, that picture points us toward Christ — faithful, constant, and near.

Write through these prompts:

Who are the closest influences in my life?

Am I cultivating deep, meaningful relationships or surface connections?

Do I view Jesus as a distant authority or a faithful friend?

How can I grow closer to Him personally?

Where can I reflect loyal friendship to others?

After reflecting, write a direct prayer:

Thank God for faithful relationships.
Ask Him to strengthen your connection with Him.
Invite Him to shape you into a loyal, steady friend to others.

Your journal becomes a place where relationship moves from theory to reality. As you intentionally draw near to Christ, intimacy grows — and that closeness shapes how you love others.

Over time, you will see that spiritual maturity includes both devotion to God and faithfulness in human relationships.
