Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

- Psalm 139:7

Loneliness often described as one of the most painful things a human being can go through. It whispers that we are by ourselves, but God's Word tells a different story. David reminds us that there is nowhere we can go beyond God's presence. Whether we are surrounded by people or sitting alone, God is there. His presence is not limited by circumstances, emotions, or geography.

Sometimes we measure God's nearness by our feelings. I’ve been guilty of this, especially when I am struggling. It seems hardships come in waves, knocking us over just as we have pulled ourselves back up on our feet. When we do not feel God, we may assume He is distant. Yet God's presence is a promise, not merely an emotion. He is with us no matter how we feel or what we are thinking. His presence is not dictated by us. He walks with us through every disappointment, every struggle, and every season of uncertainty. The greatest gift God offers is not simply what He can do for us, but the assurance that He is with us wherever we go. So whether you go to the valley, or escape to a beach, or ski the highest mountaintop or deepest ocean, He is with you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that I can never outrun Your presence. When I feel lonely or discouraged, remind me that You are near. Help me trust Your promise to be with me and find comfort in Your constant presence. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

God's presence isn't something we have to earn or search for—it's a gift we receive every single day. As you pause to journal, reflect on the moments you've sensed His nearness, the places where you need His peace today, and the promises that remind you you'll never walk alone. Sometimes writing our prayers helps us recognize that God has been beside us all along.

Journal & Reflect

  • Where have you recently experienced God's presence, even in a small or unexpected way?
  • Is there an area of your life where you feel alone or overwhelmed? Invite God into that place as you write.
  • How does knowing that God is always with you change the way you face today's challenges?
  • Write a prayer thanking God for His constant presence and asking Him to help you become more aware of Him throughout your day.

Message from Kara

One of my favorite truths about God is that His presence isn't dependent on my circumstances. There have been seasons when I felt uncertain or overwhelmed, yet looking back, I can see He never left my side. Psalm 139 reminds me that whether life feels peaceful or difficult, God is already there—loving, guiding, and faithfully walking with us. My prayer is that today's devotional helps you rest in that beautiful promise and gives you confidence that you are never alone.

With love ,
Kara 🤍
