I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me. When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted.
- Psalm 77:1-2
Hard praise reflects a big God.
One of the most significant moments of my life with God came by way of a friend.
When close friends of ours lost their baby during childbirth on a Monday morning, buried her a few days later in that week and were standing and singing praises to God that very next Sunday morning, I saw the power of hard praise.
I call it that.
It’s not that God is hard to praise. Rather, it’s the praise you give when things in your life are so hard, they feel unbearable…but you praise anyway.
• It’s praising through immense grief and suffering.
• It’s praising through a terminal diagnosis or marital betrayal.
• It’s praising through the loss of a limb or death of a dream.
That hard praise is not about you, it’s about God.
Other people see it and they realize just how big God is.
People knew what my friends had gone through and they were in awe of their faithfulness, but were in even more awe of what it said about who they knew God to be.
Your praise through the worst of times reveals how mighty and worthy God is, so we praise for His glory!
It is not easy to do, but the best news I can give you is that He will give you the strength to praise if you ask him for it. Cry out to him!
I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me. When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted. (Psalm 77:1-2)
Ask God today for the strength to praise through any future hard times coming your way for His glory.
With Love,
Janay

What a great way to explain that God is worthy of our praise in all situations. He is always there for us, in both glorious and challenging times. Amen to this devotional!
