Under a feathered wing symbolizing resting in God’s protection

Daily Devotional • Psalm 91:1–2 • Finding Refuge in God

Psalm 91:1–2 reminds us that God is our refuge and safe place in every season. Today’s devotional explores what it means to dwell in His shelter and trust Him fully.

You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!”

- Psalm 91:1-2

God wants you to know that you can place all your trust in Him.

Many people struggle with that truth and instead rely on money, success, and other people. While these things aren’t inherently bad, they are not reliable to place our complete trust in. They cannot stand up to the weight of that trust.

Unlike the worldly things you will encounter in this life, the Lord is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow–making Him the most worthy person to receive your full trust.

Whenever you start to feel anxious or afraid, it is an indicator that you have placed your trust in something other than God. When this happens, do not let feelings of condemnation bring you down, but gently avert your attention back to Him.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. (Psalm 118:8-9)

Today, take comfort in the unending and eternal protection the Lord offers you. Know that you can take refuge under His wings anytime, granting you endless access to His unfailing love for you.

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad
