He Knows Your Name

This weekend my husband took our two boys to the lake, while I reluctantly stayed home by myself. (Insert party hat, cheers, confetti dropping from the ceiling!!)   Reality: I actually love going to the lake and hate missing out on Davis and Ethan having a blast swimming, tubing, etc., BUT we are leaving soon for our family vacation and I am in need of some uninterrupted hours to get ready for the trip. I am also in the final stages of Paper Sunday’s new web site design and trying to complete this prior to our vacation. So, the boys headed down on Friday night, and I spent most of the evening organizing, making lists, and in general doing really boring, but somehow simultaneously really gratifying ‘stuff.’  

Saturday morning, I woke up late (thank you Jesus! thank you Bob!).   Since we are going on a beach vacation, I figured it was probably a good time to start working out so I grabbed my shoes and headed out for a run.    I was getting my headphones situated, hit Pandora, and before I was even down the driveway, the first lyrics of Francesca Battistelli’s  He Knows My Name started playing.    

I was overwhelmed listening to Francesca Battistelli as she sang.  It is in those moments that God’s presence is so real, so legit.  God confirms over and over how personal He is.  My day was to be spent working on Paper Sunday’s web site, and what does He do?   He starts my morning by confirming the very ♥heart♥ of Paper Sunday which is… HE KNOWS YOUR NAME.  

I can still remember the first time I read a scripture with my name in it.  It took a moment to grasp that this verse read slightly different.

Listen to me, Kara…I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.   Isaiah 46:3-4.  

It still took time to soak in.  What was different??  And then... there was this slowly building realization the verse was personalized.   The same God who created the billions of stars, who created the oceans and the mountains, who made all of creation with all its complexities thinks about me and He knows my name.  

At Paper Sunday our heart truly is that all would have a deeper understanding of how personal God is.   Our hope is that you would not relegate God to Sunday mornings, but make him a part of your every day.  Are you struggling in your marriage? Dealing with an illness? Needing guidance with your kid? Or, maybe this is the best season of your life and you are dominating on every level!   Wherever you are, whatever season in life you are in, there is a God who is real, real big, and real personal.   He wants to be part of your life!

Here’s the reality about the God of the Universe:

♥ He sees you.

♥ He cares about the details of your life.

♥ He knows you by name.

And, if the God of the Universe can speak the world in to existence, He can help you with your finances. He can heal your anxiety. He’s A LOT bigger than your marital issues.

Life is so much sweeter and easier with God.  I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together will all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high is the love of God for you.   Ephesians 3:18

This morning I am missing my husband and kids.   I know they are eating donuts, playing like crazy, and soon will be heading out for some glorious lake time.   But, also this morning, I spent time with the God of the Universe…who knows my name and knew exactly what I needed today.    Thank you God!
