We pray that you would walk in the ways of true righteousness, pleasing God in every good thing you do. Then you’ll become fruit-bearing branches, yielding to his life, and maturing in the rich experience of knowing God in his fullness!
- Colossians 1:10
What is your heart set on? Who does your heart long to please the most?
In order to make sure we are not distracted by lesser, meaningless goals or desires, we must seek to please God above all else.
Our human minds can be easily swayed with the pushes and pulls of the world around us, which is why it’s important we understand we can’t accomplish this through sheer willpower alone.
We must ask the Lord for His help also, and make sure our hearts are being powered by the Spirit.
As we fall more in love with Jesus, this every day pursuit becomes easier.
Take a moment to think about someone in your life who you dearly love…
When we love a person ardently, we will go out of our way to do things to serve them.
We may plan surprises, buy them spontaneous gifts, cook their favorite foods or snacks, and so forth!
In addition, we are also mindful of the things that don’t please them, and so we do our best to avoid doing those.
The point is, when we love someone, we naturally desire to please them because we take delight in them!
This same, selfless and passionate love is the same love God has for you.
As His beloved child, He delights in increasing your joy and seeing you bear fruit in your relationship with Him.
The more you are aware of God’s zealous love for you, the more you will want to please Him!
TODAY: Allow the blossoming desire to please Him surpass everything else!
With Love,
Sarah Sherstad
