Daily Devotional • Psalm 27:4

It is written: Here’s the one thing I crave from Yahweh, the one thing I seek above all else: I want to live with him every moment in his house, beholding the marvelous beauty of Yahweh, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to contemplate his temple.  -  Psalm 27:4

At the time David wrote this Psalm, a temple had not been built yet. He longed to be surrounded with the presence of God, completely and utterly permeated with His holiness. Above all else, David wanted nothing more than to dwell in the presence of the King, because he understood there was no better place to be.

The more we fall in love with Jesus, the more we crave His company. Inviting Him in every moment of our lives and letting Him take over completely is when we will see our lives transformed.

The reason things like anxiety, depression, and sickness feel so awful is because we originally were never meant to experience them.

We were created and designed to exist in the presence of Yahweh!

In His holy presence, healing and wholeness are restored to us. Sickness and disease, mental and physical, cannot survive the presence of God. They have no choice, but to surrender.

In His presence we will also find His marvelous beauty.

Translated from Hebrew to English, did you know the word “beauty” can also mean “sweetness,” “pleasantness,” “friendliness,” “graciousness,” “goodness,” “loveliness,” “splendor,” or “delightfulness”? This only further shows the abundance that awaits us when we step into His presence!

If you are going through a difficult season in your life, know that He is waiting for you in the Secret Place, where He longs to make you whole again.

The world and works of darkness may try their best to tear you apart, but ultimately nothing can stop you when you choose to constantly abide in the dwelling place of your beloved!

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad
