So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
- Isaiah 41:10
Do you like change? Or do you go into change dragging your feet, and kicking and screaming? Do you enjoy the security of routine or are you someone who jumps at the chance to switch things up? Personally, I am averse to change. I get anxious when anything changes. Recently, we had a time change. My body and mind were all kinds of messed up from that the day after.
For most people, change is uncomfortable. Even when we know it is for our good, leaving behind the familiar feels like stepping into a void. We cling to routines, relationships, and circumstances because they give us a sense of control. And many changes bring about a certain amount of fear. “Will I like this new job, city or church?” “Will I recover from this surgery, job loss, or hurt”?
Yet, God’s Word reminds us in Isaiah 40:31, "but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” But how do we get through the difficulties of life, and the ups and downs of change when all we have is our faith? We rely on and trust the God who we know.
Every transition in life, whether expected or sudden, is an opportunity to perceive God’s hand and participate in His plan. We quiet the fear with the knowledge of who God is. Because fear is not from Him. He calls us to lean not on our own understanding, as Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Trusting God is not blind; it is deliberate faith that chooses to believe in His wisdom and love even when we cannot see the full path.
Change requires letting go of those things that God has removed from our lives. It requires us to look forward. This release is often painful, yet it creates space for growth. Imagine a gardener pruning a tree—the cuts may seem harsh, but they allow new branches to grow strong and bear fruit. God’s pruning in our lives is an act of love. It is preparing us for His plan for our lives. When our plans align with His plans, we experience His peace.
Today, ask yourself: What am I holding on to that keeps me from stepping into this new season? Where can I surrender control to God? Where do I need to stop looking and longing for the past?
Prayer: Dear Jesus, Jesus, I ask you to remove my fear and resistance to change. Help me trust You with every step and surrender my desire for control. Open my eyes to see You in this time of change. Even though I’m hurting, I know you are with me.

Prayer
Father,
Thank You for being the unchanging God in every changing season of life. When uncertainty tempts me to fear, remind me that You are with me. When I feel weak, strengthen me. When I feel overwhelmed, help me. When I feel like I cannot move forward, uphold me with Your righteous hand. Teach me to trust Your presence more than my circumstances. Help me walk confidently into the future knowing You have already gone before me. Thank You for Your faithfulness that never fails.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Message from Kara
If you're walking through a season of change right now, I want to remind you that God isn't waiting for you on the other side of this transition—He's walking through it with you today. Sometimes the hardest part of change is not knowing what's ahead, but Isaiah 41:10 reminds us that our confidence isn't found in having all the answers. It's found in knowing Who holds our future. My prayer is that as you spend time journaling and reflecting on God's promises, you'll discover a deeper peace and trust in His faithful presence. He has carried you before, and He will carry you again.
With gratitude,
Kara
