Be still, and know that I am God.
- Psalm 46:10
In a world that seems to be erupting in war and violence, it might night seem like there isn’t any hope. However, God is at work. He is still on His throne, and He is not surprised by any of it.
Everything seems to be going at the speed of light with productivity and social media forcing us to go faster, know more, have more and do more. Waiting seasons, transitions, and uncertainty interrupt our momentum. It can feel like everything is spiraling out of control.
However, God tells us, not to fret. He tells us to do the opposite. Be still. Be still. And then know that He is God. While this can feel counter to what we are used to doing, it is a gift from God.
Slowing down feels uncomfortable because it exposes what we often distract ourselves from—fear, fatigue, grief, or unanswered questions. Yet God uses stillness to speak, heal, and realign our hearts. Stillness invites us to pause long enough to notice where we are rushing past what truly matters.
Reflection during manic times reveals our priorities. What is God inviting me to notice right now? When we slow down, we begin to hear God’s voice more clearly, not in urgency, but in peace.
God’s timing is not rushed. His growth, healing, and wisdom develop slowly, like roots growing deep beneath the soil. He gently knocks at the door waiting for us to let Him in.
Instead of resisting stillness, we can learn to receive it as sacred space. In the quiet, God restores our souls and reminds us that our worth is not measured by progress, but by who we are in Him.
Prayer: Lord, help me receive this season without frustration and anger. Teach me to be still and trust You. Open my eyes to what You are doing beneath the surface and restore my strength as I rest in Your presence. Amen.

Sherry Shepherd
Stillness doesn't always come naturally, especially when life feels busy or uncertain. But taking a few moments to write can quiet the noise and make room for God's voice. As you journal today, allow His presence to slow your heart and remind you that He is in control of every season.
Journal & Reflect
- What has been making my heart feel rushed or overwhelmed lately?
- What would it look like for me to truly "be still" with God today?
- Where is God inviting me to trust Him instead of striving?

Message from Kara
It's amazing how often God speaks most clearly when we finally slow down long enough to listen.
I've found that in busy seasons, my instinct is to keep pushing forward. But Psalm 46:10 reminds me that God's invitation isn't to strive harder—it's to be still. His peace isn't something we earn through productivity; it's a gift we receive when we rest in His presence.
My prayer is that today's devotional encourages you to pause, breathe deeply, and spend a few quiet moments with the Lord. Even if your schedule is full, His peace is available to you. May you discover that slowing down with God is never wasted time—it is where our hearts are renewed and our faith is strengthened.
With love ,
Kara 🤍
