May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Romans 15:13
Have you ever felt like you cannot take another thing? Maybe your heart has been shattered by grief, or you have had a series of disappointments and the pain of that keeps mounting. You go to bed with a knot in your belly and wake with panic in your chest.
God desires us to draw near to Him. When we feel anxious, He wants us to trust Him. God doesn't simply offer hope; He is the God of hope. As we place our trust in Him, He fills our hearts with joy and peace that cannot be manufactured by our own efforts. Hope grows not because life becomes easier, but because God's Spirit continues to remind us of His goodness.
When your cup feels empty, or your future uncertain, remember that God specializes in filling empty things. He fills weary hearts with peace, anxious minds with truth, and discouraged souls with hope. As He fills you, your life becomes a testimony that encourages others who are searching for hope as well.
Prayer: Jesus, fill my heart with Your joy, peace, and hope today. Let my life reflect Your goodness so others can see Your faithfulness through me. Help me trust You completely and overflow with the hope that only You can provide. Amen.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
Sometimes God speaks to our hearts through a single verse, but the reflection doesn't have to end when we finish reading. Romans 15:13 invites us to pause and consider where we're placing our trust—and where we need God's hope to meet us today. Before moving on with your day, take a few quiet moments to put your thoughts on paper. What are you carrying? Where do you need peace? What are you hoping God will do? You don't need to have the perfect words. Simply bring your honest heart to Him and make space for His hope to overflow.
Journal & Reflect
- Where do you need hope most right now? Write about the situation, relationship, decision, or uncertainty that feels hardest to surrender to God.
- What would it look like to trust God in that place? Instead of focusing only on the outcome you want, write a prayer of trust. What can you place in God's hands today?
- Where have you experienced God's faithfulness before? Think of a season when God carried you, provided for you, comforted you, or made a way when you couldn't see one. Write down what you remember.

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the God of hope. When I cannot see what is ahead, help me trust You. When I feel discouraged, remind me of Your faithfulness. When worry takes over my thoughts, fill me with Your peace.
Teach me not to place my hope in circumstances that can change, but in You—the One who never changes.
Fill my heart with Your joy and peace as I trust You. Let Your hope overflow in me, not only for my own encouragement but so that I can bring hope, kindness, and light to the people around me.
Today, I choose to trust You with what I cannot control.
Thank You for meeting me here.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
Message from Kara
I know there are seasons when hope comes easily—and seasons when you have to choose to trust God one day at a time. That's one of the reasons I love Romans 15:13. It doesn't ask us to create our own hope or pretend everything is okay. It points us back to the God of hope. Whatever you're carrying today, you can bring it to Him. Take a few minutes to slow down. Write out what you're praying for. Remember where you've seen God's faithfulness. And give yourself permission to be honest with Him about where you need hope. My prayer is that as you do, you'll experience the joy and peace that come from trusting Him—and that His hope will begin to overflow into every part of your life. I'm praying for you today.
With love ,
