Daily Devotional • Deuteronomy 31:6 • You Are Not Alone

There are moments when life feels isolating, and the road ahead seems uncertain. Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us of an unchanging truth: God goes with us wherever we go. No matter what you're facing today, you never walk alone.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.

- Deuteronomy 31:6

Loneliness has a way of convincing us that we have been forgotten. It whispers that everyone else is connected, understood, and supported while we are left to navigate life on our own. Whether loneliness comes from a broken relationship, a move to a new city, the loss of a loved one, or simply feeling unseen in a crowded room, it can be one of the heaviest burdens we carry. Recently, I have experienced a lot of alone time due to a spinal cord injury and failed surgery. Constant pain and difficulty walking has caused me to miss out on time with family, my children and grandchildren. I have been stuck in my home unable to attend anything in person. It has been so difficult. It seems during seasons of loneliness, Satan works harder to make you doubt yourself and God’s goodness.

Yet God's Word speaks a different truth. Before Joshua led Israel into the Promised Land, Moses reminded the people that their confidence could not rest in their circumstances or companions. Their confidence rested in the presence of God. The Lord did not promise an easy journey, but He did promise His presence. The same promise belongs to us today. God's faithfulness is not measured by how many people stand beside us but by the fact that He never leaves our side. Even when no one else understands what we are facing, God is nearby. He is with us. He never leaves our side.

It’s easy when we are alone and struggling to feel forgotten or overlooked. But God's presence is not determined by our feelings. He is with us in the silence, in the waiting, and in the ache of loneliness. The faithful God who walked with Israel, who stood with David in the wilderness, and who strengthened Paul in prison is walking with you today.

Prayer: God, thank You that I am never truly alone. When loneliness weighs heavily on my heart, remind me that Your presence is constant and Your love is unfailing. Help me to trust Your promise that You will never leave or forsake me. Give me courage to walk through this season knowing that You are near. In Jesus' name, Amen.
