“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

- Deuteronomy 31:8

One of the greatest sources of hope is knowing we never walk alone. Before we arrive at tomorrow's challenges, God is already there. He has gone before us, preparing the way and promising His presence through every trial. It brings such comfort to know that God is with us and there is nothing we could ever do that would cause us to be too far gone from His love and forgiveness.

There will be days when you feel isolated or forgotten, but feelings are not facts. That can be so helpful to remember when our emotions are running wild and telling us lies that things will never change.

God's Word declares that He will never abandon His children. He walks ahead of you, beside you, and carries you when your strength is gone. That promise alone is enough to fill even the hardest day with hope.

Prayer: Father, thank You for never leaving me. Help me remember Your constant presence whenever I feel alone or afraid. Let Your faithfulness strengthen my hope and quiet my heart. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

Transitions have a way of making us feel like we're stepping into the unknown.

A new season, a difficult decision, an empty nest, a career change, a move, a relationship shift—or simply not knowing what comes next—can leave us wondering if we're ready.

But Deuteronomy 31:8 gives us something better than certainty about the future.

It gives us the certainty of God's presence.

He goes before you.
He is with you.
He will not leave you.

Before you move on with your day, take a few quiet moments to write down what you're facing. Let your journal become a place to surrender the unknown and remember the ways God has already been faithful.

You may not know what's ahead.

But you know Who is going before you.

Journal & Reflect

  • What transition are you facing right now? Write honestly about the change, decision, or unknown that has been occupying your thoughts.
  • What are you afraid might happen? Name the fears beneath the uncertainty. What are you tempted to believe about the future?
  • How does it change your perspective to know that God goes before you? Imagine entering this next season knowing that God is already there. What would you do differently?

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Deuteronomy 31:8 mean?

Deuteronomy 31:8 reminds us that God goes before His people, remains with them, and will never abandon them. It offers encouragement when we face uncertainty, transition, or fear.

What does it mean that God goes before us?

It means that God is already present in the places and circumstances we haven't reached yet. We may not know what the future holds, but we can trust the One who does.

How can I trust God during a season of transition?

Begin by focusing less on knowing exactly what will happen and more on knowing who God is. Prayer, Scripture, journaling, and remembering His past faithfulness can help strengthen your trust.

What if I still feel anxious about the future?

Feeling anxious doesn't mean you aren't trusting God. Bring those fears honestly to Him. Faith can grow gradually as you continue surrendering what you cannot control and remembering His presence.

How can journaling help during a transition?

Journaling gives you a place to process your emotions, pray through decisions, record God's faithfulness, and reflect on how He is guiding you. Over time, those pages can become a reminder of how faithfully God has walked with you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being faithful in every season.

When I don't know what comes next, remind me that You already do. When change makes me afraid, help me remember that I am never walking alone.

Go before me, Lord.

Prepare the way ahead and give me the courage to follow where You lead. When I am tempted to worry about tomorrow, bring my heart back to Your presence today.

Thank You for every time You have carried me before.

Help me remember Your faithfulness when I feel uncertain. Give me peace when I cannot see the whole picture and faith to take the next step.

I surrender my plans, my questions, and my future to You.

I trust You to go before me.

In Jesus' name,
Amen

Message from Kara

Transitions can be exciting, but they can also be hard.

I've experienced seasons when there were so many unknowns that I wanted to know exactly what was coming next. I wanted a plan. I wanted reassurance. I wanted to know that everything would work out.

But God has reminded me that I don't need to know everything about the road ahead when I know Who is already there.

Deuteronomy 31:8 says that God goes before us. He doesn't ask us to walk into the unknown alone.

So if you're entering a new season right now, I hope you'll take a deep breath and remember that.

God is already there.

He is faithful.
He is present.
And He will not leave you.

You can take the next step—not because you know exactly where the road leads, but because you trust the One who does.

I'm praying that you feel His presence and faithfulness in whatever comes next.

With love ,
Kara 🤍
