Daily Devotional • Isaiah 43:1 • Called by Name, Chosen by God

In a world that often defines us by our accomplishments, failures, or circumstances, Isaiah 43:1 offers a powerful reminder of our true identity. God says, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine." You are known, loved, chosen, and held securely by the One who created you. No matter what you're facing today, your identity rests in Him.

Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.

- Isaiah 43:1

What does it mean to be called by name?

For most people, they may think it just means someone knows what you are simply called and that’s all there is to it.

For God, it’s more than that.

He calls you by name, because He knows you and loves you. When He calls your name, He is acknowledging that you are His. You belong to Him. You are His beloved, His precious child.

By belonging to the Lord, it means you are a part of His royal family.

You have been redeemed and bought with a great price– the precious blood of Jesus. You are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms.

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood and a holy nation. (1 Peter 2:9) You are the righteousness of God through Christ and as bold as a lion!

Today, be encouraged and reminded that God knows your name. Not only your name, but everything about you. He knows more about you than you do yourself! Whenever the enemy tries to spew lies about who you are, remind him of what God has said, because the word of your Heavenly Father is final!

You belong to The King of Kings. You are a royal child of God, and no one can take that away from you. You are His, and He is yours!

Prayer: Lord, how intimately you know me! You call me by name, and I am so thankful to be a part of your royal family. Help me to walk in my true identity in you today, Lord.

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad

Prayer

Father,
Thank You for creating me, redeeming me, and calling me by name. When fear, insecurity, or doubt try to define me, remind me that I belong to You. Help me find my identity in Your love rather than in the opinions of others or the challenges I face. Give me confidence in Your promises and peace in Your presence. Thank You for never letting me walk alone.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Message from Kara

There are days when life can make us question who we are. We may feel overlooked, inadequate, or uncertain about our purpose. That's why I treasure Isaiah 43:1. God doesn't simply know about you—He knows you personally. He calls you by name. He sees every detail of your life, every worry on your heart, and every step of your journey. My prayer today is that you'll rest in the confidence that you are fully known and fully loved by the God who created you. No circumstance can change that truth.

You belong to Him.

Cheering you on,
Kara  🤍
